Kursi do të ofrojë nje pasqyrim historik të diskursit kolonial dhe post-kolonial, duke I kushtuar një vëmendje të veçantë fjalorit kritik që është zhvilluar në gjysmën e fundit të shekullit për të përshkruar praktikat koloniale dhe eksperiencat post-koloniale si dhe strategjitë e qëndresës. Leximet në klasë do të variojnë rreth zhanreve letrarë dhe prezantimeve vizuale. Gjithashtu do të bëhet një përzgjedhje e teksteve kritike dhe teorike të shkrimtarëve si: Edëard Said, Frantz Fanon, Gayatri Spivak dhe Homi Bhabha. Leximet kritike nuk kuptohen thjeshtë si një pike kyçe për kuptimin e teksteve letrare dhe vizuale që do të studiohen, por si një pjesë e rëndësishme e bashkëveprimit ndërmjet pjesëve kulturore letrare, vizuale dhe kritike.

Objektivat e këtij kursi janë: 1. Të pajisë studentët me njohuri rreth shtrirjes gjeografike, historisë dhe pasojat e kolonializmit europian, rezistencën anti-koloniale dhe shfaqen e kombësisë postkoloniale 2. Të njohë studentët me përgjigjet e fuqisë kreative të kolonializmit europian nga bota postkoloniale. 3. Të inkurajojë studentët të mendojnë në mënyrë kritike rreth teksteve letrare 4. Të aftësojë studentët të tregojnë aftësinë për të analizuar dhe interpretuar tektste letrare dhe kulturore që ne studiojmë nga aspektet kritike dhe teorike 5. Të inkurajojnë studentët të diskutojnë një gamë të gjerë pyetjesh dhe problemesh duke u ballafaquar me botën bashkëkohore postkoloniale.
