This course will make students familiar with the history of literary criticism. The focus is on the issues concerning the nature of literature and criticism by studying different literary critics and the study of major literary theories and applications.
- Objectives

Students will get acquainted with the writers, whose thoughts have contributed to literary criticism. Students will have an insight into the main principles related to literary theory. Students will articulate their personal principles regarding theory and criticism in literature. Students will demonstrate through written work and in-class comments their ability to apply various theories to works of literature. Students will write a paper that demonstrates their ability to compare and synthesize the theories presented;
