Description

American film reflects and arguably creates the American national identity. The films considered in this course will explore dynamics of modern America; the films and the introductory lectures will provide students with an integrated and critical knowledge of American culture and society. Rather than accept a given film as an accurate depiction of events or even ideologies, your exercise in critical thinking will be paramount to your learning success.

Objectives

This is not a survey course in American History; rather, this course will provide students with an integrated and critical knowledge of American Culture and society. Key elements in our course will be American Film and American Rock and Roll – both of which reflect and arguably create the American national identity.
