Objectives

The main objectives of this course are: to examine various theoretical frameworks for understanding how students comprehend texts. to present pedagogical strategies based on evidence for effective teaching of reading comprehension. to explore theories and practices for teaching reading comprehension to multilingual students. to introduce and explain the concepts of simple and compound sentences. to expand upon sentence structure concepts, covering complex sentences along with compound and compound-complex sentences. to enable students to guide readers in constructing well-organized paragraphs, including the role of topic sentences, supporting details, closing sentences, and transitional words. to learn strategies for refining paragraphs' overall meaning, structure, and development. to provide a comprehensive guide to punctuation rules in writing.
