Description

This course introduces students to the basics of teaching the four language skills: listening, reading, speaking, and writing. In addition to the theoretical foundation, concepts, and terminology associated with each skill, the course introduces students to examples / lesson models for each skill emphasizing the key aspects/steps of effective teaching: teaching methodology and techniques, practice, student practice and learning strategies as well as error correction and assessment. It also encourages students to think critically and reflectively in order to develop individual perceptions of teaching methods and strategies as well as to prepare a learning model for each skill.

Objectives

The students are introduced to the specifics of each skill, teaching strategies, and ways of evaluating and correcting mistakes, they understand the importance of teaching each skill, and practice theoretical knowledge through the preparation of sample lessons for each skill.
