PLS 101 është projektuar për t’i prezantuar studentëve lëndën e shkencave politike. Lënda ka tre kredite dhe fokusohet në historinë, fushën e veprimit dhe metodat që përdoren në shkencën politike. PLS 101 përbëhet nga katër blloqe bazë: 1. Së pari, lënda eksploron se cfarë është shkenca politike dhe shpjegon metodat shkencore në studimin e politikës. 2. Së dyti, lënda fokusohet në konceptet e shkencës politike, duke adresuar më në detaje koncepte si forca, shteti, kombi dhe duke debatuar mbi këto koncepte. 3. Së treti, lënda analizon teorinë politike, mendimtarët kryesorë politikë dhe ideologjitë kryesore politike. 4. Së katërti, lënda do të krahasojë sistemet politike, partitë politike, sistemet zgjedhore dhe do të shpjegojë grupet e interesit.

Politics is often commented on as a necessary evil. But what is politics? What is the impact of politics on society and what is the relationship between politics and governance? What is the impact of policy on the well-functioning of institutions? The course will address the above questions in a critical way with the aim of achieving three main objectives: 1. PLS 101 will improve students' understanding and perception of the role of politics. 2. PLS 101 will elaborate on concepts such as strength, state, governance, sovereignty, and legitimacy with a particular focus on democracy. The course will introduce students to the key differences between a democratic and a non-democratic regime. 3. PLS 101 will explain how political institutions work and how political behavior and institutions interact to create the political product. Consequently, the course is designed to broaden students' knowledge of contemporary political issues.
