Kjo lëndë është ndërtuar në mënyrë të tillë që ti sigurojë studentëve mundësinë për të konsideruar dhe zhvilluar me tej filozofinë, parimet, praktikën dhe problemet në edukimin parashkollor dhe në edukimin fillor, duke u fokusuar kryesisht në instruksionet matematike. Studentët analizojnë aspekte të ndryshme të cilat çojnë në marrjen e vendimeve në lidhje me mjedisin e të mësuarit i cili është përshtatur më se miri me aftësitë dhe nevojat e studentëve si studiues të matematikës. Fusha të tjera në fokus janë integrimi i historisë, kultura dhe përdorimi i duhur i teknologjisë në studimin dhe mësimdhënien e matematikës.

Qëllimi i kësaj lënde është të merret me përmbajtje matematikore: numrat, logjika e matematikës, të dhënat e planit mësimor të matematikës fillestare. Studentët do të thellojnë njohuritë e tyre rreth këtyre temave dhe do të studiojnë mënyrën se si një fëmijë mendon dhe mëson rreth tyre. Në fokus do të jenë edhe njohuritë pedagogjike për zhvillimin e mësimit të matematikës. Përdorimi i teknologjisë duke përfshirë makinat llogaritëse.
