Këshillimi i bashkëmoshatarëve do të përcaktohet si një shumëllojshmëri sjelljesh ndër personale të marra përsipër nga jo profesionistë ,që kanë ndërmarrë një rol ndihmës me një person tjetër. Ky është një kurs hyrës universitar që do të prezantojë konceptet e ndihmës mes bashkëmoshatarëve së bashku me komunikimin bazë dhe aftësitë e këshillimit. Ky kurs nuk është dizajnuar me qëllim që të trajnojë studentët që të bëhen këshilltare profesionistë apo si zëvendësues për trajnim formal të kërkuar për punësim të veçantë në fushën e shëndetit mendor.
- Objectives

Ky kurs ka për qëllim të përgatisë studentët sesi të: Demonstrojnë aftësi këshilluese themelore si sjellje, si pjesëmarrës, teknika pyetjesh të hapura e të mbyllura, aftësi vëzhgimi të klientit, inkurajim, perifrazim, reflektim i ndjenjave dhe përmbledhje. Zhvillojnë aftësitë e komunikimit të nevojshme në marrëdhëniet ndër personale. Zhvillojnë një ndjenjë të etikës personale teksa lidhen me marrëdhëniet ndihmëse. Zhvillojnë një vetë-ndërgjegjësim personal që përputhet me atë të një ndihmësi fillestar. Zhvillojnë një vetëdije të këshillimit në çështjet multi kulturore (p.sh., racore / etnike, gjinore, paaftësisë). Artikulojnë parimet e Modelit prej tre fazash të Ndihmësit të Kualifikuar të Gerard Egan.
